I'd prefer to be called a princess rather than a b*tch.
Maybe I'm being a bit too sensitive this morning. I'm blaming the sudden atmospheric pressure change. |

Ohhh, it was the first part you took offence to. Sorry princess, I'll try to be more sensitive.
So, what's up, Canucks win the Stanley Cup yet? |

If we are going to have Shirkaruk/Horvat/Jensen in the lineup. I this way better. |

This game was a perfect example of what I was talking about last week when I said that Jensen didn't appear ready to be handed an NHL role - as always he seems to have the physical tools, but he really needs some time in the AHL to learn how to put it together on a nightly basis. My preference would be to see him and Schroeder play on the top line in Utica and continue to hone their games.
Conversely, Shinkaruk has put up results every time he's been given an opportunity so far - which is what you expect from a talented offensive player who's genuinely hungry to prove themselves. He may get no more than a 9-game stint, but if anyone's earned a look on a scoring line it's certainly been him.

This is Fosco's take on Jensen's play last night and through camp so far (see below). It's amazing the difference in opinion watching the same game. I didn't see the game so have no opinion.
Jensen has played good the entire camp.
He was arguably the only one of the F prospects last night who played an "NHL" game. The other guys looked like JR players trying to do too much to make a team.
Jensen didn't stand out much, but he was playing a simple game, and looked like one of the only forwards on the team who was consistently trying to use his linemates.
He received the puck well, kept his head up, used his body for protection, and made the simple play to a linemate.
He was also regularly dumping the puck in and either getting of the ice, or continuing in on the forecheck. He was decent on the backcheck, as well.
Like I said, not a standout game, but he was making all the little plays that coaches like to see.
Shinkaruk made a couple of cute plays, and one resulted in a goal that probably wouldn't have gone in on most NHL goalies.
It was still a great shot, but Stalock was not set on the post as quickly as an NHL starter would have been.
Horvat looked alright on the forecheck, but was trying to hard to outmuscle opponents, and it wasn't as effective for him this game as it has been against smaller players.
Gaunce wasn't bad. He got rewarded for being in the right place, won a few draws, looked decent in his own end, and his passing wasn't too bad either.
None of these players had a bad game, but they'll all have to do more to stand out. - Fosco |

The Canucks are not a desperate team. The fans are desparate for a Stanley Cup! |

You know, I actually shudder to wonder if the riots are so bad when we get to Game 7s of the SCF and lose, now imagine how bad they'd be if we actually do win...

I used to be a Raymond fan, but he's definitely not a player that should get anyone pumped or excited to have on your team. Small/soft guy that's not good enough to play in the top 6 isn't exactly a player that will be loved by the fans |

All I want is two capable bottom 6 lines. If we end up with Weise/Sestito as regular 4th liners again then I'm not too excited about this year unless the second line somehow shocks us all. I'd like to see another game with the younger players playing against a more veteran lineup before I get too excited about any of their chances to make a significant impact this season.
I saw your comments on Ian's blogs about Burrows away from the Sedins, and I agree. Don't think he'll be worth his contract this year if he's not playing with them. |
